Synopsis

At Eternity's Gate sees Oscar-nominated writer/director and artist Julian Schnabel explore the life of Vincent van Gogh with the passion, depth and beauty of his Oscar-nominated films The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Before Night Falls

Famed but tormented artist Vincent van Gogh (Willem Dafoe) struggles to live with his art. Bank-rolled by his brother Theo (Rupert Friend) and inspired by his peer Paul Gauguin (Oscar Isaac), At Eternity's Gate sees van Gogh spends his final years in Arles, France, painting masterworks of the natural world that surrounds him.

Nominated for Best Film at the Venice Film Festival, At Eternity's Gate came away with two awards including Best Actor for Willem Dafoe in a performance that was nominated for Best Actor at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Toronto Film Critics Association, San Francisco Film Critics Circle and the National Society of Film Critics Awards, USA.

The film will be followed by a live-streamed Q&A with writer/director Julian Schnabel in conversation with Carol Jacobi, exhibition curator of Tate Britain's Van Gogh and Britain.
